28 Journal Prompts for Taming the Tongue & Practicing Patience (February)

I had the most difficult time deciding what this month’s journal prompts would be about. Love? Well, for some reason I assigned that topic to be last June’s. But love kept resonating with me.

Sometimes I don’t say the right things or perhaps I do say the right things, just not in the right tone. Sometimes I fall short of showing compassion because I was outright inconsiderate of the other person’s feelings. And at times it takes a while when I feel discomfort in my soul that finally I recognize I was wrong to come off that harsh. Can you relate?

It doesn’t matter what your role is in a relationship but communication is key if it’s love and respect you are expecting. If you are struggling receiving what you want from others, have you taken a look at how you’ve been communicating?

Maybe this month is a sign that you should pay closer attention to how you show your love. If you could simplify your speech/language beginning with your thoughts and temperament, imagine the integrity you would genuinely be known for.

Proverbs 15: 1-2 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

Proverbs 16:32 Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.

Proverbs 17:9 Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Proverbs 17:27-28 The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.

Matthew 15:11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

31 Journal Prompts for Finding Motivation/Inspiration (January)

The old has gone! The new has come! The ironic thing about these journal prompts is I totally procrastinated on completing it. Coming back from Maui just in time for Christmas last year was definitely something I wasn’t mentally ready for. I’m only realizing now that I could have brought a pen and journal to all 8 beaches I had fallen in love with, but if I’m being completely honest, I just wanted to forget about all my cares. I’m glad that the next 351 days doesn’t take away from the fact that every single one is an opportunity to begin anew.

Some of us have had a great start and some of us are struggling to find momentum. Others are finally making small adjustments and the rest have already given up. Whether or not you’re stuck in the habits of 2018 or making compromises with them, 2019 has so much room for growth. With these questions, let us examine ourselves in hopes of putting our best foot forward into cultivating a mindset of preparedness.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

31 Journal Prompts for Renewing Your mind & Starting over Again (December)

Well, here’s to 2018’s homestretch. I believe each year gets better and better especially if you ask yourself questions that ultimately help you to stay on track. What better way to prepare our minds with the right attitude than to challenge ourselves to gain discernment by thinking towards betterment? Each year is a year of growth and 2018 has been an advantage for me. I’m approaching the new year with these questions you can also ask yourself. My hope and prayer is that you will always take that room for improvement and make the best of it beginning with having the LORD in mind. For 2019, let’s dig deeper, be more honest with ourselves, others, and most importantly with God. Amen?

31 Journal Prompts for Living in God’s Will (October)

What believer doesn’t ever question God if what they’re doing is still in His will? Even if you’ll never admit to anyone about your doubts, it’s such a relief whenever He convicts that you’re still on the right path. Amen? So this post is super late…sorry…but maybe it was in His will because I would not have been able to come up with these questions a few weeks ago. These questions have crossed my mind concerning my efforts to meet Him half way. They are affirmative questions that you can use as a journal guide or prayer guide to help you make reflections of where you’re at on this narrow path. Whether you are confident or not about the LORD’s will in your life, I hope and pray you continue to persevere. It is in His will after all. 🙂
