28 Journal Prompts for Taming the Tongue & Practicing Patience (February)

I had the most difficult time deciding what this month’s journal prompts would be about. Love? Well, for some reason I assigned that topic to be last June’s. But love kept resonating with me.

Sometimes I don’t say the right things or perhaps I do say the right things, just not in the right tone. Sometimes I fall short of showing compassion because I was outright inconsiderate of the other person’s feelings. And at times it takes a while when I feel discomfort in my soul that finally I recognize I was wrong to come off that harsh. Can you relate?

It doesn’t matter what your role is in a relationship but communication is key if it’s love and respect you are expecting. If you are struggling receiving what you want from others, have you taken a look at how you’ve been communicating?

Maybe this month is a sign that you should pay closer attention to how you show your love. If you could simplify your speech/language beginning with your thoughts and temperament, imagine the integrity you would genuinely be known for.

Proverbs 15: 1-2 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. The tongue of the wise adorns knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

Proverbs 16:32 Better a patient person than a warrior, one with self-control than one who takes a city.

Proverbs 17:9 Whoever would foster love covers over an offense, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

Proverbs 17:27-28 The one who has knowledge uses words with restraint, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered. Even fools are thought wise if they keep silent, and discerning if they hold their tongues.

Matthew 15:11 What goes into someone’s mouth does not defile them, but what comes out of their mouth, that is what defiles them.

Ephesians 4:29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Romans 12:12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

31 Journal Prompts for Finding Motivation/Inspiration (January)

The old has gone! The new has come! The ironic thing about these journal prompts is I totally procrastinated on completing it. Coming back from Maui just in time for Christmas last year was definitely something I wasn’t mentally ready for. I’m only realizing now that I could have brought a pen and journal to all 8 beaches I had fallen in love with, but if I’m being completely honest, I just wanted to forget about all my cares. I’m glad that the next 351 days doesn’t take away from the fact that every single one is an opportunity to begin anew.

Some of us have had a great start and some of us are struggling to find momentum. Others are finally making small adjustments and the rest have already given up. Whether or not you’re stuck in the habits of 2018 or making compromises with them, 2019 has so much room for growth. With these questions, let us examine ourselves in hopes of putting our best foot forward into cultivating a mindset of preparedness.

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Isaiah 43:18-19 “Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.

Philippians 3:13-14 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Ephesians 4:22-24 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

1 Corinthians 9:24-27 Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Makes Sense to Me

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

– Steve Jobs

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Romans 12:1-2

“Think differently. Stand out. Crazy is okay, but get crazy in love with God, so you can change the world. Your genius is according to His will.”

“Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow. The important thing is not to stop questioning.”

– Albert Einstein

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.

30 Journal Prompts for the Sinful Heart (September)

From time to time God shows me there are quite some very distraught spirits here. I know our hearts can sometimes be very unclean, so I have put these affirmative questions together to help your weary soul. I have been for a very long time a perfectionist at heart only to discover nothing I can physically do can wipe away my sins because Christ has already paid that debt for me. But as a Christian I know there are plenty that still live in deliberate disobedience, and if you can relate to beating yourself up for “not being good enough in God’s eyes”, I urge you to take a few minutes of your day to make reflections. I hope and pray these questions strengthen your bond with Christ. These journal prompts are more of an assessment, a reevaluation for the heart and soul….but anyway, this is for the Christian struggling but still love Jesus. <3

James 1:13-18 When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don’t be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.

UPDATE

It’s been so long. I know I’ve abandoned my blog. Forgive me. I just edited my About Me too explaining this. I sound redundant. But I’m back. If you care. Or if you don’t I really don’t mind. 🙂 I started this years ago and I just can’t not use it ever again. It’s always nice to have something to call your own. I think I’m finally starting to think more like a mom, even though I don’t have any kids. This is my baby. I need to nurture it. I think God would really like that. He was the one who prompted me to start this anyway. So yes, Im back. I’m alive or at least trying to survive. Life got busy. Reading some of my old posts makes me crack up. I’ve gone and deleted ones that just sound immature. Err. I’m still growing and every year gets better and better. What matters is I keep walking in faith and part of that is keeping up with this blog. I’m so glad 2018 has been great towards me so far. I’m learning to expand in ways I only dreamed in the past. And having this blog will push me to share the Lord’s goodness. I’m grateful. And so should you, for whatever circumstance you might be in, know that it only takes gratitude for the things you already have, because with God all things are possible. While I’ve been gone, on my free time, I would read so much on health because I knew I wasn’t living my best. I’m always led to the cold truth that my relationship with Christ is directly related to my overall wellbeing, and the topic of health has definitely stepped up on my list of values. So I’ve been doing a lot of independent research, specifically concerning women’s health. If you are only following this blog because of the Christian-based content, you might want to unsubscribe. I would just like to warn you that I’m incorporating all things related to diet/weight loss (recipes, tips, and health in general). I will be sharing my weight loss journey in hopes of helping many other women struggling to lose unwanted weight. Lastly, I am a portrait artist who has committed to using my talent not just when I feel like drawing or painting. I’ve been blessed to appreciate detail in everything and with this gift, how can I suppress it? I’ll be posting all my artwork here. Check out my GALLERY. So that’s me for now. I hope you all are doing great this year. And I pray you receive blessings every day. BE BLESSED! 🙂

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.”

Albert Einstein

Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.

Proverbs 3:3-4

“Ultimately we know deeply that the other side of every fear is freedom.”

Marilyn Ferguson

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

“God is Love.  Surrendering = perfect freedom.”
