(ANON QUESTION RECEIVED FROM GodfirstGodalways)
Struggling with my faith lately. I might be losing my religion. I just feel like every time I hear someone talk about God It just doesn’t feel real
Thank you for expressing your concern for yourself and your faith. We all struggle with faith, so you’re not alone. 🙂 Have you declared Christ as your Savior/are you baptized or not? What has been taking up more room than Christ in your heart? When was the last time you went to church or actually sought to get to know Him? When was the last time you prayed or read the Bible? How long has it been since you’ve been feeling this way? If you can honestly say it’s been a while, then it’s clear you haven’t really been spending enough time nurturing your soul. Feed your soul what it needs, the life of Jesus inside you is hungry and thirsty. I know you sense that void in you because you admit you’re struggling with faith. It’s your soul seriously crying out for more of God. Believe it or not, all Christians have the potential to go back to their old ways. When we seek God in all we do despite our imperfections, He rewards our efforts, and the more we grow, the more aware we are of those blessings. I suggest you don’t remain idle for long periods of time. When you’re not busy with work/school get busy working out your faith. Do what is required of you to gain that faith, so you’re full of wisdom and life. Fight the feeling of laziness or just not wanting to do anything about it. God will put you in this same situation, this feeling of lacking faith, again and again until you do something about it. So don’t wait for something bad to happen like a wake up call to finally do something about it. Do something about it NOW. Your soul is on the line and that affects your spirit, your life, your health, your decisions, your relationships…
You can’t let your feelings dictate for you whether you should give up on God or not. A good friend once told me “No matter what, never give up on your relationship with God.” So I’m here just passing it on…NO MATTER WHAT, NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD. If you go to Him for guidance in any situation, it’s going to be a good fight. He will never abandon you. He loves you enormously it’s that unbelievable. The secret to having more faith is simply choosing to wrap your head and whole being around the fact that He loves you that much. Even while you have been unfaithful, He loves you. Despite how you feel, He does not change…He is still for you, not against you. He is the strongest Rock you can lean on. And He loves you still today, right now, tomorrow, and every day that passes after that. He is so patient with you while you are still figuring this out for however long it will take, He’s there listening, watching, guiding you no matter what. Seek Him. When you meet with Him half way, all walls down, holding nothing back, it’s then you will experience and encounter just how REAL, great, and awesome the LORD Almighty is. What are you going to do with the freewill He gave you? Please choose faith and choose Christ again. Fall on your knees and receive His Grace. Don’t refuse it, deny it, doubt it, or let your pride get in the way of pure surrender. Deliberately accept it in its entirety as His perfect gift to you. He knows you need it more than you think you do. The more often you accept His Grace, the more faith you will gain. Ask for more faith and pray always in Jesus’ name, Amen. You’re definitely in my prayers tonight.
John 6:35 Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.
Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.
Psalm 1:1-3 Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the law of the Lord, and who meditates on his law day and night. That person is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither—whatever they do prospers.
Mark 16:16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.
Isaiah 40:31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.
