This is something I personally have not really thought about, but thank you for this. During the time when my mom became a born-again, all of a sudden we stopped celebrating Christmas. I didn’t complain because where I was from (in the Philippines), we were satisfied with whatever we had. But my mom explained that it was because Jesus’ real birthday wasn’t on December 25th…I wouldn’t say Christians shouldn’t celebrate Christmas but I also wouldn’t say they should. I believe it depends a lot on the Christian’s convictions. After my family came here to US, we started celebrating Christmas again, and it was mostly because my dad’s side of the family had a strong influence on us. We didn’t really have a choice not to celebrate it, because they were the encouragement our family needed. I, along with my immediate family have honestly not been celebrating Christmas for a few years now, not because of religious reasons, but because of where we are financially. And we’re okay with that. And since all of my aunts and uncles have had so much drama, everyone just chooses not to celebrate it with each other anymore. But aside from that, I really believe that it’s up to how strongly a Christian feels about Christmas.

The celebration of Christmas is not something that concerns me so much. If I wanted to, I could really get myself worked up at the fact that a lot of lukewarm Christians only go to church during that time just like on Easter. But at the end of the day, no matter what day it is, it really comes down to me and my own relationship with Christ. “Is Jesus’ birth and death a valuable remembrance for me? Is His life and death exhibited in me?” To me it doesn’t matter what day Jesus was born, and I could care less what people think. What matters more is faith…..faith in the fact that He really was born, and that He really did die and rose from the grave. A day is a day, the same new mercies every morning, the same God that created it. If it was Christmas tomorrow, and I got invited to a party, sure I’ll go, because I know Jesus is with me everywhere and everyday.

I know this is late. Sorry for that!  I’m not sure if this was the answer you were looking for but I also didn’t want to do a research on it just so it sounded like I really knew the answer. I’m going off of my convictions. God bless you!
