my best friend is in an obsessive relationship with her boyfriend, and it is awkward and frankly pretty gross how much they are physically into each other in public. she also ditches me constantly for him, even verbally expressing she puts him before me (we’re young – freshmen in college) i’m so angry, and i’m upset that i am. i am happy for her that she’s found this happiness, but this anger is driving me crazy. i’m in a god-filled relationship of my own, so i don’t think i’m jealous. help?!
Hey, that’s a good reflection!….seeing that it makes you upset for being upset……it’s not good to stay there though! I don’t think you’re jealous either! Maybe you are angry because of a mixture of things….the fact that your best friend is giving her boyfriend more attention than she is giving you and also probably because it doesn’t seem to you like their relationship is the kind of relationship you would like her to be in? Maybe he doesn’t display characteristics of a Christian or he’s not Christian enough to you??Even if you don’t really know what’s ticking you off, you’ve got to let go of any malice in your heart. It would help just being open about it to God, whenever you’re reminded of your anger, pray about it. It will only build up the more you put it off to the side. The LORD is your best therapist, you just need to spend more time with Him to really discover/rediscover that. The more you tell Him your woes and really just talk to Him as a true friend, the more He will convict you of things about yourself in a gentle manner, and He will help you deal with them on your own pace. I’m praying that your heart will be filled with peace and patience with the couple as well as yourself. God bless you!
