(ANON CONCERN RECEIVED FROM GodfirstGodalways)
i dont know what to do and where to start. In the past years, I’ve been to pornography. I’ve confessed about it so many times, yet I fall into the same sin over and over again. I’ve never told anyone about it, and I honestly don’t think I ever can…
Even though you’re anonymous, thank you for being bold enough to confess this to me. I’m confident God knows just how much of a struggle this is for you, because He also knows just how much you can handle. Knowing that, I know He is your only solid help. I say solid because He must be the foundation if anything or anyone else is going to play a part in the success of your spiritual growth. Each and every one of us has at least one thing we struggle with or have become a slave to. God means the best for us and because He always wants us to mature, you have to look at your struggle as a blessing, as something that He can use to bring you closer to Him. The more you surrender, the more He’ll transform your mind. I look at it like this…in the past my biggest struggle was getting along with my dad because he just wasn’t the most loving and caring dad. God told me that he’s my only father here on earth and it’s His way of teaching me lessons on patience and forgiveness. If I were addicted to pornography, I would look at every temptation as a lesson on self-control. Self–control should be my main message when I reach out to people. Use your struggle and look at the other end of the spectrum…..you will reach your highest potential here on earth if you allow God to use you for His Kingdom. Let Him be your self-control.
My church, Valley Bible Fellowship is the epicenter of Las Vegas and every year my town holds one of the country’s largest porn conventions where one of the pastors in my church holds a small ministry from a booth called The Naked Truth. I’m aware that addiction to pornography is becoming more and more rampant and I think it’s great that my church has a ministry for this big problem. You’re not alone. I had instances where I could have become a porn addict myself but I’m very grateful for every conviction I had, which reminds me you must count or realize your convictions as blessings because they do help with gaining faith and staying on track. I strongly believe that it is never too late to change this habit and that goes for anyone else who may be addicted to porn or anything other than porn. Remember a sin is a sin, there is no greater sin than another. James 2:10 For whoever keeps the whole law but fails in one point has become accountable for all of it. God doesn’t have a measuring stick for all kinds of sins, because to Him they are all the same. He wants us to ask for forgiveness each and every time we sin, so that we may remain humble. If you feel so terrible about this particular sin compared to any other sin you commit in one day, then it’s clear you must have a deeper understanding of God’s grace. Let His grace be sufficient. He sent His Son Jesus to die for all your sins. Your sins have already been dealt with when He rose from the dead to be with the Father.
If you’ve never accepted Christ as your Savior and would like to, or if you’ve fallen off track, then once you accept Him or rededicate your life to Him, that is how you are able to have a relationship with God. Because He was made one with God and because we accept/remember Christ is Lord over us, this act of surrender is what enables us to step into unity with our Creator, and it is only then we have the discernment and willpower to choose righteousness over sin. If this realization has to happen several times a day or a week, then so be it….Christianity is about a life of surrender. We are only here and free to live not because of anything we have done, but because of God’s grace. YOU BECOME SAVED WHEN YOU CHOOSE TO STOP STRUGGLING. Again, the only way for you to overcome this is by letting the Holy Spirit guide you through surrendering multiple times, because the more you surrender every area of your life, the more God takes over and renews you with His strength. Learn to see your struggles as blessings in disguise because your relationship with Him will guide you through them. All glory goes to Him. You’re in my prayers tonight! 🙂
2 Corinthians 12:10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Galatians 5:19-21 Now the works of the flesh are evident: sexual immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmity, strife, jealousy, fits of anger, rivalries, dissensions, divisions, envy, drunkenness, orgies, and things like these. I warn you, as I warned you before, that those who do such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.
