(QUESTION RECEIVED FROM ANON ON GodfirstGodalways)

I struggle with an eating disorder and self harm and it makes me feel so two faced. Ill talk about Gods love for everyone and healing and deliverance and how wonderful he is and how He made everyone perfect and loves them and then I turn around and do intentional harm to myself and I feel like Im gonna be this way forever and Im afraid He wont use me and I wont fulfill my calling as long as I’m like this but I want so badly to serve Him

This is the first message I’ve gotten regarding these types of struggles and I’ve never personally known anyone with it or tried to help out, but let me tell you just how blessed I am that you are my first. 🙂 We all have something we struggle with, but there is deliverance by having faith in Christ. Victories wouldn’t be praises to God without hardships. Are you praying about your struggles often? Sometimes I become so aware of when I am trusting my own knowledge and wisdom and I am not really allowing the Holy Spirit to take over. At times I count it a blessing that I am aware of it and at times I forget that there even is a difference. The joy of the LORD is your strength. Literally. If you can distinguish the significant differences between relying on your own strength and relying completely on God, you will do what it takes for you to seek His face because you find genuine joy and confidence in protecting your integrity, which is found welcoming Jesus into your heart again and valuing His qualities.

You were made in God’s image (Genesis 9:6). You were made fearfully and wonderfully (Psalm 139:14). You were made so carefully. And just as you are, He continues to love you! Have you ever wondered that your struggles are all part of God’s purpose for you? He knows exactly how you will overcome because He called you by name (Isaiah 43:1). I am praying that you realize your struggles all have to do with your testimony, because God will work miracles in you to bring so many who have the same struggles as you do. I also pray that you will continue to tell others the Gospel because as it is in His will for you to spread His Word, so will you be healed. The truth will set you free (John 8:32). The LORD wants you to be a witness to others who have struggles…period. You will overcome your struggles and He is going to use you in the process to be a blessing to them, and He will continue to use you even after you’ve overcome. He brings up the weak and lowly who put their hope in Him (Isaiah 40:29-31). Let His truth heal you from the inside out and in every part of your life. Proverbs 17:22 says “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.” So, if the joy of the LORD is your strength (Nehemiah 8:10) because it feels good to obey Him, the medicine you are going to receive from the LORD will provide you with the faith and hope to keep walking forward in the light, (despite relapses). If you believe that He can restore your heart and faith everyday, then believe also that He can restore your health and spirit. God bless you so much friend!

Isaiah 38:16-17 You restored me to health and let me live. Surely it was for my benefit that I suffered such anguish. In your love you kept me from the pit of destruction; you have put all my sins behind your back.

Isaiah 57:18-19 I have seen their ways, but I will heal them; I will guide them and restore comfort to Israel’s mourners, creating praise on their lips. Peace, peace, to those far and near,” says the LORD. “And I will heal them.

Jeremiah 17:14 Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed; save me and I will be saved, for you are the one I praise.

Jeremiah 30:17 But I will restore you to health and heal your wounds,’ declares the LORD.

Proverbs 3:7 Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

Exodus 23:25 Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you.

Galatians 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.

John 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.
