(ANON QUESTION RECEIVED FROM GodfristGodalways)
Do you think it’s a bad thing to have sex before marriage.. should I feel like I did something wrong ? I am still with the person but should I feel bad for doing that ?
First of all what happened is in the past. God will forgive you if you repent your sins to Him, but you will not feel shame or guilt for any wrong you do unless you know in your heart it was against Him. The initial sense of shame and guilt is an indicator of a right standing relationship with God, but if anyone remains in that state, it is not of God but of Satan. Anything that troubles anyone, even if they brought it upon themselves, the Lord is always ready to hear them out. But if the situation has led them to be crippled in faith, their thought pattern is not of God, again, it is of Satan. That person must draw themselves closer to God in order that He will equip them to handle their stress for His glory. That person should recognize the Lord and turn to Him with praises, confession, thanksgiving, no matter how hard it can be. Love is the antidote to fear (1 John 4:18). The way faith builds in a person is through small convictions and those convictions can be anything from hearing a Christian song to a Bible verse a friend sent them through text….A sin only becomes a sin to a person the more they get to know Christ because a Christian life will undoubtedly come with convictions. That’s why anyone who is not saved or confesses their Lord is Jesus will be more reckless in life than the one who calls on Him for guidance.
I believe it’s not a good idea to have sex before marriage. He keeps sex sacred between husband and wife to protect you. I’ve replied 4 times in the past on this subject and I’ll link them down below. You will only sense a conviction from the Lord if you have been hearing or reading messages that touch on this subject and I believe that you will only do something about it if you deepen your relationship with Christ. What do you sense in your heart God is telling you? Are you feeling condemned or convicted? The feeling of condemnation is the same as being judged. The feeling of conviction is a gentle tug from deep within, it leads to a desire to be pure and blameless and therefore to repentance, you’ll know it comes from God, whereas condemnation leads to shame and guilt and self-pity, and it leads to either depression or hate, you should know this comes from Satan. If you feel condemned, you can turn it into a conviction by changing how you feel about it, through praise, worship, and repentance. It’s harder to change a conviction into a condemnation because once God convicts you about a certain situation, it becomes a seed of faith in you and that doesn’t go away, unless you’ve made up your mind to turn your back on God for good and also if you’ve basically sold your soul to Satan. I’ll leave a link on more about conviction and condemnation also.
Begin to talk to God on a regular basis (not necessarily every minute, just be consistent) and ask Him often if what you do is in His will and if it is pleasing to Him. You can sense God’s joy when it feels right to obey. So to answer your question, I will not tell you that you should feel bad for what you do because then I would be condemning you. I believe that’s the Lord’s place to sort out any thoughts and feelings you might have about this subject, therefore you will only get convicted. He’s the Righteous Judge and I believe He is guiding you to make the righteous decision. I am praying for you love to have the clarity and answer. <3
THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONVICTION AND CONDEMNATION
James 4:17 If anyone, then, knows the good they ought to do and doesn’t do it, it is sin for them.
James 1:12 Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him.
