I wasn’t as grateful as I had always thought I was. The LORD revealed to me how much more I expressed complaints over gratitude. And even if I never verbally said some of those complaints, my thoughts would find other ways of becoming my reality. For every single thing that doesn’t go my way God tells me, “But what did you do when I opened this door or that door for you? Did you just barge right in to do as you please or did you even thank Me and ask Me for guidance?” Gratitude is attitude, it’s character, and it says a lot about a person’s faith and confidence. Gratitude is everything and bringing this attitude with me everywhere I go assures me that He is still guiding me. There’s so much to count as as a gift from above, and at times when I am overwhelmed with joy, it’s because I choose to be aware of how much I am blessed.
If you’re struggling to grow with gratitude, take heart friend! Here’s a list of affirmative questions to tap into that right attitude as we approach the new year.
Colossians 3:15-17 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
Psalm 106:1 Praise the LORD.Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good; his love endures forever.
