“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. But the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”
– Steve Jobs
Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
“Think differently. Stand out. Crazy is okay, but get crazy in love with God, so you can change the world. Your genius is according to His will.”
Proverbs 3:4-6 – Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
I’m learning to trust in God with all my heart all over again. Too often I grow with pride and sometimes I’m so blind thinking I’m still following Him when I’m not. Instead I’m following my emotions. It’s important I stay highly focused on Him, I need to yield every second. His will is for me to discover it no matter how many times it takes. His will will bring me to obey Him.
It’s easier prayed than done, and it truly is a challenge for some not to give in to their human emotions. But if we learn to use negative feelings as triggers to go straight to the Lord in prayer, we can prevent so many regrets, and broken relationships. Falling off the narrow path is the result of leading ourselves based on what we think is better for us. Yet the Lord Almighty loves us so relentlessly that He will not allow us to keep going without His discipline. And whenever we return, He will not allow us to keep going without the strength and faith we asked for.
I believe so many of us get anxious figuring out what God’s will is as if to say there is a general idea/plan He has for each individual, which He does, but I think it’s a big misconception to put the importance on that. He reveals His will every time we obey. In our journey with Christ, every step we surrender we’re brought closer to the Father, making us one with Him. His will may not always make sense at first, but sooner or later we discover a growing peace and acceptance in the most inner part of our being placed by none other than God. His purpose is for me to take His will and make action based on the faith He’s graced me with and the wisdom that has been learned from that. His will won’t bring me somewhere where He is not also present. But to merely acknowledge Him in every situation is not the same as surrendering to His will. A declaration to the Lord saying, “I obey Your will, please help me now to understand what I should do” is an act of faith where He then has our full attention as He urges us to simply walk by it. His will is always good, otherwise He wouldn’t have created you for it, because your purpose in life is for Him alone, where His love and guidance will never abandon you nor forsake you.
QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF:
Is there any problem I had this past week that made me trust my feelings more than God?
Can I try better at handing Him my emotions by confessing right then and there and ask for a desire to recognize the times I have the opportunity to pray?
What can I do differently tomorrow to remind me that my faith is more important than my feelings?
Heavenly Father, I praise You and thank You for creating me with emotions, for the person that I was then, the person I am now, and the person that You want me to become. Forgive me for the times I have only focused on my needs and desires and the times I have forgotten to depend on Your vision for me. You love me so much not to leave me as I am and so I thank You for disciplining me by using my emotions to teach me lessons. I ask that you help me use them as a way to refocus on You so that I can remember to trust You and Your will for me and not myself or my ways. Help me to understand and make sense of things that I have a hard time accepting and remind me that Your ways are higher. Lord, help me to rely on Your truth when problems confuse me by doing whatever it takes for me to make things less about me and more about You and help me to desire what You desire for me. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.
I painted this lovely scene in 2009, except it was much gloomier and quite depressing. Just last year, I decided it wasn’t finished and added colors that I believed my heart belted out if it wasn’t for joy. Then I decided it isn’t nearly done if I don’t add a poem. 🙂 I’m probably going to work on this again, because I already see some things I need to touch up on. Always happens after taking a picture. But anyway…..
Lord, I come to You because I want to learn more about You. You are the Bread of Life. I want to eat Your words. You are the Water of Life. I want to drink up Your goodness. You are Life and this is Your heart. You are the One who sees everything in it. You are the One who cleans it pure and restores it, the One who shapes it, the One who pours love into it, who makes it beat, guards it, and protects it. You are the One who created it. Take this heart my Lord, I confess it’s all Yours. Help me go out into this world and portray the beauty of this heart You have molded. I want to show others how beautiful my heart is because You give so much just to reveal Yourself in it. I commit to Your will Father God. How I respect Your plans for me! I give in to Your will, Your purpose for my life, because You know what You are doing. I know I need Your help and God You know I also want it. I want Your help like I want Your peace. Your guidance is the best kind of wisdom I could ever have. I cannot part from Your grace because Your love abounds so perfectly. I love Your Truth.
God’s confidence is a bold and peaceful assurance. He gives it to those who genuinely seek to exchange their understanding for His wisdom. He refines their character and gives them a renewed outlook on life only if they are willing to change their ways.
NOTE: This will be a devotional and/or vlog series.
The first 10-20 minutes of your morning sets the tone for the rest of your day. I’ll be honest, I don’t read my Bible everyday, but I still try to fill my head with positive things so it’s actually a joy getting up out of bed. Looking through Tumblr is sometimes a distraction, so I change things up. I don’t know about you but this one’s a must for me. How do you spend the first few minutes of your day?
NOTE: This will be a future vlog and/or devotional.
Lord, Your will says to keep my heart focused on You. I’ve invited You in, so now open the eyes of my heart and help me to meditate on Your vision. I desire everything that aligns with Your plan for me. Your purpose for me is why my heart beats. Please allow my mind to keep comprehending what that vision is You’ve set before me. I want my whole being to obey and glorify Your will for in it I pray. Amen.
Ephesians 1:18 – I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in His holy people.
